SESSION TWO

The goal for this session is to gain ground in the understanding of the story of Jesus.

Application: Each student find a friend and tell them the story of Jesus in the next two weeks.

NEW TESTAMENT OVERVIEW

MEETING PREPARATION

The Gospel of Mark has 16 chapters.  Speed read it this week. We’re reading for big picture. Get the whole story of Jesus.

Prepare (write down) two lists:

  1. Track the geographical movement of Jesus.

    • Example: starts in Bethlehem – goes to Egypt – goes to Galilee. (actually not really in Mark – there’s no birth story).

    • Write down the reference that goes with each location.

  2. 15 major events in Jesus’ life

BONUS WORK

Pick a short New Testament (5 chapters or less) book with which you are not very familiar.

  • Read the book in one sitting.

  • Make short outline.

  • Come back to it a few times during the 2 weeks.

  • Goal: Attempt to use your outline to memorize the flow of the book.

MEETING PLAN

The story of Jesus.

Everyone write 15 things on the board.

Discuss.  Talk about function of gospels and other New Testament literature.

AFTER CLASS

Tell a friend about Christ’s life without notes.  Don’t get lost in the details.
